Description:

The HSP seal profile is an O-Ring energized, low friction, asymmetrical rod seal. Though the HSP can be used as a primary seal, it is most often used as a buffer seal in support of the primary sealing element. It does this by protecting the primary rod seal from pressure spikes within the system. As well as allowing residual fluid film to back pass into the system during the rods return stroke, decreasing the risk of pressure traps and keeping the rod sealing system properly lubricated. When developed as a primary seal, some minor adjustments to the mating surface geometry of the sealing element can create more of a positive sealing effect.
