DAS Double Wiper

Overview

Our DAS Double Wiper is a versatile, high-performance sealing solution designed for demanding industrial applications. This double-acting wiper features a sealing and wiper edge, eliminating the need for a metal angle ring. It includes an O-ring made from NBR, which serves as the sealing and preloading element, while the base element is crafted from PTFE bronze.

Functionality

Applications

The DAS Double Wiper is perfect for short-stroke cylinders operating at high sliding speeds and high stroke frequencies. Its robust design makes it suitable for general industrial use where moderate demands are placed on the sealing system.

Media Resistance

  • Compatible with hydraulic oils (DIN 51524 part 1-3).
  • Suitable for use with lubricating oils and greases based on mineral oils.
  • Resistant to flame-retardant hydraulic fluids (HFA, HFB, HFC as per VCMA 24317).
  • Effective in hot air and steam environments.

Design Guidelines

  • Chamfer the cylinder housing and piston rod/piston to prevent damage.
  • Ensure the length and angle of installation chamfers meet installation space drawing specifications.
  • Maintain surface roughness of the rod as per seal specifications.
  • Groove flanks should have a surface roughness of Ra ≤ 4 µm.
  • Groove base should have a surface roughness of Ra ≤ 2.5 µm.

Installation Guidelines

  • Ensure axial accessibility for installation, particularly for small diameters.
  • Deburr sharp edges and provide seamless chamfers and radii.
  • Thoroughly clean the installation space to remove dust, dirt, and metal chips.
  • Preheat the PTFE part for closed installation spaces to ease installation.
  • Avoid rolling or twisting the O-ring during installation.
  • Ensure the seal is not kinked during assembly.
  • Calibrate the seal after assembly for optimal performance.
